Collected Detroit Gallery, Art Impact Connect and Eric Saarinen Films are organizations sharing a commitment to art, culture and diversity as they positively impact our home in Metropolitan Detroit and all humankind.
Award-winning Director and Cinematographer Eric Saarinen will lead the production of a documentary short film (“the Film”) tracing the life of Artis Lane and her latest career milestone: the genesis, fabrication and completion of a 12 foot figurative bronze statue.
Through her own words and exciting imagery, the Film will recall Lane’s life journey tracing her humble roots, her confrontations with racial and gender prejudice, fame as a Hollywood celebrity portraitist, her work as it relates to civil rights and social justice, and her career culmination in sculpture and metaphysical images. Footage of her completing the monumental piece will show Artis’s process, and will include site visits in Michigan and California.

The Film will be rendered to a digital file that can be shown as a 4K DCP file with 5.1 surround sound for projection in movie theaters. It will include the rights to sounds and images, with the intention of entry into short film industry awards such as the Academy Awards and Sundance Film Festival.
